She did it again!!!

I got the text this morning that Victoria made the JV Girls Soccer Team at LCHS. I couldn't be more proud of her.

She has spent the last two weeks conditioning and preparing for this moment and it paid off!

She only started playing soccer a few short years ago and has became a really good player. She always doubts herself but as parents we see her potential...and she proves time and time again that she has great potential.

I can't believe she is even old enough to be on a JV team in HIGHSCHOOL! The time has flown by...it seems once they hit 13 everything starts to really go by so fast!  I seriously was just planning Strawberry Shortcake parties for her. Now we're attending highschool events for her. Wow.

I'm trying to take it all in because I know in a short 3 years she will be leaving our nest for college. She even knows where she wants to attend...isn't that crazy?!? We went from talking about what Bratz doll to buy to what college she hopes to get into.

All I can say is that I am one proud Momma of one very special girl!

Tryouts Take 2

Today is the day that all a parents (or at least me) dread....their child trying out for a school team. I turn into a ball of nerves and pace the floors all day hoping and praying for my child to come home with a huge smile saying she made the team.

Today while having coffee with Susie we agreed that it's harder on the parent than the child. Wonder why that is? I guess it's because you never want your child to fail and you never want to see a dream they have crushed. You want them to attain any goal they set for themselves.

Victoria has been conditioning at school for soccer for about 2.5 weeks and today is the start of try-outs for the JV squad at LCHS. My little girl is big enough to play a sport in highschool....say it ain't so! Wow. time. flies.

After saying a prayer and keeping my fingers crossed I hope I have good news to share very soon. They were not told how long tryouts would last so I am hoping it's a quick process and not one that will leave me with no finger nails left or a floor to pace on!

Homecoming 2011

Mike's worst nightmare came true this past Saturday.....Victoria was old enough to attend her FIRST homecoming dance in High School. I think he had heart palpitations all evening and probably gave himself a couple of ulcers in the meantime.

Victoria and I went dress shopping several weeks ago and for the first time no one walked out in tears - score!

I helped her pick out the cutest little Jessica McClintock cocktail dress. She wasn't too keen on it while it hung on the hanger but once I begged her to put it on she didn't want to take it off. She looked amazing in it. I was also secretly happy that she chose the dress because I wore Jessica McClintock dresses for all of my formal occasions in high school. Her designs are always classy and sophisticated; you can't go wrong with that.

Victoria attended the dance with a group of friends and her "date" was a young man named Spencer who is a really sweet Southern boy. He got the "okay" from Mike and I was charmed with his manners. I think they had a good time and secretly if she had to choose a boyfriend he ranks #1 on my list. He is one of the schools mascots and his step-father is the Principle of the 9th grade Academy. Vic seems to have surrounded herself around a really good group of kids and that is always a nice feeling for a parent You are always going to worry about who your child hangs out with but this group seems to be grounded and most are involved in honor classes, sports and academic clubs. They come from good families who stay involved with their children's life. That is very important these days. I admire the parents that know what their child is doing and where and who they are hanging out with. It's hard to keep up with your teenager so when the parents know their child's "business" it shows me that they care and are on top of their children's every move. Some may call it overbearing but I don't...I call it being responsible.

Of course, Brody had to have a picture with his Sissy all dressed up. Too bad he couldn't have been her date....or at least old enough to keep his eye on her during the dance ;)

 

Whirlwind

I can't believe how busy my life has gotten in the past few weeks. Seems like it's a whirlwind spinning out of control at times. I don't know if I am coming or going. Hence why I am doing bullet points again for the blog. I can't seem to put down entire thoughts that flow well in a paragraph form so here is what's happening in the Beemer house:

* Victoria came home yesterday with very good progress reports.....A's and B's so we can't complain too much. She is so busy that we usually only see her before she heads upstairs to bed or if we are graced with her presence at the dinner table.

* Mike is loving being a Dad that can attend football games so we will be going to every.single.home.game until the season is over. Yay, me.

* Brody is on week 2 of Preschool and has already learned parts of the "Pledge of Allegiance" and days of the week. I am super proud of him.

* Momma is coming next Thursday to spend 5 long days with us and I can't wait to see her! I have missed both my parents terribly lately. I wish my Dad was coming too but someone has to stay with my ailing Pappaw.

* Pappaw is still doing okay considering the type of cancer he has. I just pray that he doesn't have to suffer too long with this. I have heard bone cancer is very painful.

* My new anxiety medicine makes me eat like a cow and I have went from 76 pounds to 100 pounds in 2 months. I just put over 30 pairs of jeans up in my closet and had to buy 10 new pair so I would have a fall wardrobe. I am now a size 3 and can't even get a size 0/1 up over my thighs. Go me!

* Church is going awesomely well. We are all enjoying the service and social activities. Vic stays busy in youth and we are so proud of her for that. Hopefully some of his good grace will rub off some of her teen attitude ;)


* I couldn't hold out any longer.....ALL of my Fall decorations are out minus the pumpkins that will be added in the very near future!!!! (No matter what my husband says)

Beemer Family Randomness

My mind is slightly scattered today so this blog is completely random with bullets instead of paragraphs. It's been a whirlwind with school starting and our mini vacay to Destin, Florida so here goes:

* Victoria started school and made it through her first day without any problems. She seems to be excited about this school year but she has a TON of expectations from all of her core classes. This will definitely be a challenging year for her.

* LCHS has their first pre-season game this coming Friday and I know Mike is beside himself with excitement. Nothing like some Southern Friday night lights and your daughter marching during halftime. He will probably get misty eyed...he's good like that.

* Brody starts school next Monday and will be going three days a week. I CAN. NOT. WAIT!!!! He needs so much stimulation and with the weather hotter than hell here it's hard to do much since your stuck indoors. I think I have watched every single episode of "Dora", "Wonder Pets", "Olivia" and the "Dinosaur Train". I am d-o-n-e with kiddy shows; I may hurl if I have to watch any more.

* I signed up for PTO which I am actually kind of excited about. I really want to be involved with Victoria's school and after school activities as much as I can and I thought that would be a good start. My day time hours are limited due to Brody's school schedule but something is better than nothing. It was either PTO or Band Boosters so I went with the one that I could be a little more flexible with. I can't commit to every Friday night (nor do I want to) so we will see how PTO works out for me

* We went to the beach the past weekend and had fun but my anxiety was up 100x more than when I am at home. I have pin pointed that I get overly anxious when I am not in my own environment. Crazy, I know, but hey, it is what it is. I personally do better with a schedule and my own little world....however, I have GOT to get over it because I like to take vacations. I know, I know, I just contradicted myself.

* I am signing Brody up for Itty Bitty Sports camp this week. It's a 6 week rotation of baseball, basketball and soccer. It introduces the little tykes to the world of sports and we definitely want him involved in athletics. The program is through the YMCA and I am excited about it.

As you can see my mind (and life) is all over the board so writing a good blog just wasn't in the cards today. However, it felt good to get it all off my mind...

One Time At Bandcamp....

One time at bandcamp....

Thanks to classic movie "American Pie" that phrase will be stuck in my head until the day I leave this earth. You can't help but say it or think it when you think, hear or say the word "band camp".

This is Victoria's first year of Marching Band and I am secretly a tad bit jealous of her getting to experience such an awesome organization. I will admit I was a totally band geek but it was "cool" to be in the "Concord High School Marching Spiders" band. The CHS band was one of the best around back in the early to late 90's. It was actually "cool" to be in band because we were that good...really we were, it's just not me saying it.

I have so many fond memories of band and I was able to do a load of cool things I would have NEVER have done unless I was a "Marching Spider". I mean, how cool was it that we were invited to march in the St. Patricks Day parade in DUBLIN, IRELAND....wow....what an amazing trip that was!!!

I can only hope that Victoria enjoys band as much as I did. Yes, it was a PITA most of the time because of the hard work and long hot hours of band camp. It was also hard on the body because marching down the steep hill while parading past excited football fans listening to the awesome cadence of our FANTASTIC drumline was hard on the shins....can you say SHIN SPLINTS?!?! Ouch.

Anyway, I guess I will be living vicariously through her this football season. I am sure she will be making memories that last a lifetime like I did....or at least I pray she does....she won't be sorry for participating in a powerful organization like the LCHS band.

Dare I say "Go Marching Trojans!"....the only bad thing about the situation is she's not a marching SPIDER.
